Artist statement

I love the old masters and their approach to painting. I'm a slow artist. I let my work mature as I apply new layers of translucent paint daily. Chiaroscuro is very important to me. I often find objects for still-life painting under my feet on the street.

My artistic roots are based on the works of the old masters. As an artist, I am interested in synthesizing old traditions and modern art. I love experimenting with different techniques, but I especially love layering in the process of creating work. I also use the time as my collaborator and friend. I let my work mature and return to it many times, sometimes with long breaks, adding layers of paint.
